Coin wear, toothed rim [solved]

5 posts
How likely is it that a toothed rim would completely wear off. For example, if I am trying to identify a coin in less than good condition with a smooth edge, I would guess that a toothed rim would be retained if a bust and wreath is identifiable. Am I correct?

Not always, in some cases toothed rims are simply not deep enough to survive substantial wear.
