Hi,

and how do I know that the 2 is smaller?

Please compare it to a "normal" in images and with measurements.

Hi,

I think you have got me wrong, the whole date is significantly smaller. This is my first post in the forums hence I didn't know what exactly to post. I'm attaching the comparison to a normal coin of Hyderabad mint of the same year. (the one in the right)

The width of the date in the coin i am requesting is approx 5mm compared to approx 9mm in the normal one.

regards
Hello (and my apologies for the very delayed response)! :`

Firstly, I cropped your images:

The dates are obviously different (as are the 2s); however, for a new year-line to be considered, you will need to provide another example of your large-date coin.

The small-date is from Calcutta. If you look at the documentation on the page, another 2007 Calcutta coin is shown, which also has a small date.

But the large-date you provided is from Hyderabad.

The reason for the difference in the dates could just be that they were minted in different places. If that is the case, all Calcutta coins have a small date, while all Hyderabad coins have a large date. And if that is the case, no new year-line is needed.

But if you can find a large-date from Calcutta, then a new year-line can be considered.

I hope that all makes sense. :)

Hi Ajsat3801,
The year font for the Kolkata mint & Hyderabad mints are entirely different from each other. So, please don't compare these two different mint coins. And in 2007 Kolkata mint coins, only reverse varieties are reported. If you found an obverse variety of Large & Small date, please share a clear picture of the two coins.
Thanks for your post and interest.
