New Japanese banknotes

Yay, one of my favourite paintings is getting on a banknote (don't know how I like many of the other design choices but yay).

I must say that I'm not a fan at all of thr new designs. They have all potential in the world, and they didn't even try.

Hokusai's wave stared down at me for three years during my art GCSE course from my school's art studio wall.

Does anyone know if this banknote redesign has any connection with the announcement of the new Japanese era? Or is it just conincidential timing?

And as I know the Japanese system, there won't be much change in the design, it most likely won't look like somebody copy pasted some pictures together like now but not to different.
