I thought it would be neat to compile a selection of our coins with two or more busts conjoined on them.
So I'll start; first of all there's William and Mary:
A lot of these are going to be commemorative issues probably, either coronations or historical events:
And finally, my record- with four busts on the same face:
Starting off with some non-royals from US classic commemoratives:
George Washington and Calvin Coolidge
George Washington Carver and Booker T. Washington
James Monroe and John Quincy Adams
And a few more German royals:
And finally these two coins, the former of which I just got from Ebay:
The first commemorates the marriage of Franz Joseph to Elizabeth of Bavaria, and the second was issued for the 25th anniversary of their wedding.
Belgium seems to be especially fond of doing this.
I dont have one to show, but there is a 2005 2 euro coin with Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg and King Albert II
commemorating the renewal of the Belgium-Luxembourg economic union. https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces2165.html
Jamais l'or n'a perdu la plus petite occasion de se montrer stupide. -Balzac
Interesting topic and an part of my collection I definitly should expand.
Here some that hasnt been posted yet:
Another Georg V coronation medal:
Luxemburgian Grand Ducess Charlotte comemorative (Shown together with Grand Duke Henri because he has to be on every luxemburgian coin by law I think)
30 Drachmai comemorating the wedding of the greek king Konstantin II (my example got a damn dark patina)
30 Drachmai greek dynasty comemorative (the busts are not next to eachother like on the belgian coin but the idea is the same)
