Hello,

I have a short story to share. I opened a new swap with a collector from Romania. I selected 47 coins, the most valuable was a common commemorative 2€. He selected around 70, a lot of silvers, non circulating commemoratives with high face value included.

I told him that I don't agree. Then he reduced his selection to 47 as well, but he left in the swap all the high face value commemoratives and the silvers (including a Yuan Shikai dollar and a German thaler). So I cancelled the swap without further explanation.

Then he sent me this message both in Hungarian and English, probably translated with google translator:

"NAZIST, to fuck your family in your mouth! Well, you want to do me, I'm going through the weekly race through HUNGARY! :))) let your family die in the accident on the day of PATIENTS !!! Thief!"

I realised that he played with me all the way. That's why he selected my most valuable coins, that's why he gave me an unrealistic offer. We have never met in person, we know nothing about each other. But it worth him all his time and energy to insult me just because I was born in Hungary and he is from Romania and our countries had a troubled relationship more than 70 years ago (for historical background, search for "Treaty of Trianon" and "Second Vienna Award" in your browser).

I didn't answer to his last message and reported him to the administrators. I had many swaps with members from Slovakia, Croatia and Romania, all of them were honest and trustworthy collectors. In my experience, collectors are usually peace-loving and open-minded people who enjoy to own a little piece of history and share stories about their coins.

I've never thought that something like this could happen on Numista.

Here are the full conversation:
I'm sorry to read this,
but when more and more people will join Numista more and more it will reflect society.
This has happen to me too. The only thing we can do is be a better person and ignore them. I am glad you did not swap with them.

I am so happy to admit that all 150 swaps that I've made were a pleasant experience. It's a shame that you've encountered such a nasty person.

Just ignore this brainless organism. Most people are nice, some are not. Doesn't really matter where you are actually.
Hey Balázs,

You were three of my best swaps, so I'm particularly sorry to hear you've had this experience from some jingoistic simpleton.

It saddens to see that our common numismatic interest is occasionally unable to neutralise the rot of a few nationalist cretins, which seems to be spreading alarmingly in the world. 8~
I didn't see the report, but now I've read this thread and am pleased to report back.

We'll see him in around 2700 years when he is unbanned.
I've had this happen to me also from a guy from Portugal. When the swap didn't go his way he canceled the swap and left me a bad rating.

I am so sad to hear this. I hope you do not let it affect you and move on from here. Only narrow minded people does that. Example I had a bad instant face to face with a guy who hates Chinese. I looked at him and say, you know what, Don take your stupid racsist and throw it at my face. If I use my perfectionist point of view, you are not very perfect either. The clothes and stuff that you brought, wear and use, most of them comes from China. So can you please take off those things on the spot and say I hate Chinese people and dump all these stuff into the dustbin? He looked at me and got a shocked of his life and never to be racsist again.
Be kind to people. Sharing is Caring. Collect what you like and not by the Crowd.
To seek for perfection, it is too painful and there is a very high price to pay. To seek for something comfortable is more easy. To seek for nothing is even more easy.
