I have this Irish Dublin Edward I Penny I believe, but know there are a fair few varieties. I wondered if there was a knowledgeable member that may be able to help I.d it's variety and value on here please.
Thank you kindly, Mark.
Spink's Catalogue of the Coins of Scotland, Ireland and the Islands (2003) lists varieties of I through IV for the second coinage of 1279-1302 that has EDW and is from the Dublin mint. Yours falls into
I. -Crowned bust in triangle, trefoil of pellets on breast.
Under that group are subgroups of:
Ia. -no pellet before EDW.R
Ib. -pellet before EDW.R
Ic. -small cross before EDW.R
The photo seems to show part of a pellet before EDW.R. This variety (Ib.) had the lowest value of all the varieties of Edward I pennies in 2003.
