Angola 40 reis picture [solved]

I'm fairly sure the reverse picture is upside down.

Could someone please correct it? Or me, if that's the case.

If so, you do seem to be correct. Other coins with similar designs have the reverse orientated differently, with two of the 40 Reis pieces being the only exceptions:

With that being said, I will submit a request to rotate the pictures on both pages. It may look weird with the way the watermark is, but at least it will be correct!

I also think the legend should be read as CIRCUMIT ORBEM PECUNIA TOTEM, which would support the orientation if I'm right.

Although, I am not quite sure about the lettering. While I have seen people say the phrase either way, when it comes to reporting the legends on the coins, all sources seem to be the same: start at the top and circle back to it.

The short answer is "I don't know". I think we need a Latin scholar to give us an idea of the correct syntax.

True--I guess which way the legend goes depends on the country. But looking at Angola's coins under the Real currency, it seems most seem to start at the top.

Of course, these coins could be an anomaly. Looking at word ordering, I believe the phrase translates to something along the lines of "Money (Pecunia) for all (Totum) around (Circumit) the world (Orbem)." However, I also know Latin does not always follow the same sentence-ordering as English. With all that being said, it appears all coins on Numista are currently consistent in how they order everything, so I would be reluctant to submit changes for all the pages unless someone can definitely confirm the ordering.

Alrighty. According to erdvilla (a Latin-knowing referee), the more correct ordering of the phrase is in fact "Circumit Orbem Pecunia Totum," so I submitted a request to modify all relevant pages.

Well, all the requests I submitted to change the wordings were rejected, so... I guess that is not going to change.
