I'd take a snow storm every day of the week, rather than 2 degrees and pouring rain. x.
Whats snow?

Its 19 degrees c here and its the middle of the night!

We don't get snow any time of the year and we are not in the tropics.

Since I left the UK I've forgotten what "real" snow looks like. Apart from a visit to Paris in 2017 I haven't once been north of Lyon since then....(8
About 10,12 years back we used to play on the snow since early december (last days of november if it was a good year) until february. Now, well, december has no snow, just rain. And if the snow actually falls in january, it melts down next day usually. I do not even remember when I last saw real winter here, and white Christmass - phew, just a childhood memory now.

Either snow or rain (even sleet) beats the heck out of freezing rain, which can cause power outages, etc. Fortunately, it looks like the freezing rain will be confined to my south with this storm.

Same here! People still talk about November 1995, when it came so much snow that the whole city closed. No busses, trams or trains could operate. People got trapped inside their houses. Just look at the seven pictures in this article: https://www.expressen.se/gt/snostormen-17-november-1995/

Now, the snow, if any, usually come January/February. We had snow the day before yesterday. I snowed the whole day. Yesterday it was all gone, and it rained the whole day. Todays it was -8 this morning. Now, 9 hours later, it +2. 8.
According to the weather forecast, I am getting the best of both worlds tomorrow, freezing rain followed by about 5 inches of snow.
I hope it doesn't affect my ability to get to the monthly coin show on Sunday!!

That's climate change for you- count your lucky stars you're no polar bear. :(

Not sure if it's just me, but the year before last, I had the air-conditioning on until November, and even in early December as well! And there was the heat wave across Europe last summer/autumn; a friend in the Netherlands reported that it was something like 33 degrees in September. 8~
We need snow in Florida! It's been mostly 70 - 80 for the entire winter for the fifth year running. Flowers are in full bloom, the grass is still growing and the bugs are getting more numerous and bigger with no frost to cull them. The chubbies are still walking around Walmart in their underwear and the bums don't relocate to SoCal.
Non illegitimis carborundum est.  Excellent advice for all coins.

Every day is snowing.... Dark and snow. There were 84 minutes of sun for the whole December.....

21 to 27 celsius, so pretty hot. Florida has a very warm climate compared to the rest of the lower 49. Although some years they get frosts and even snow in the North of the State. In the winter of 1977 snow fell as far south as Orlando and it killed the orange crop.

Here in Auckland, we don't have winters that mild, ours around 12 - 17 highs and 3 to 15 lows. Generally wet days will have heavy blowy showers that soak you and its about 14 or 15 degrees but feels cold with all the humidity. I actually prefer snow to that, when its fine, ist barely 3 or 4 in the nights and no more than 10 to 12 in the day.

It is summer here, our summers are cool by most peoples standards, think mid 20s highs and high teens lows with no days hotter than 28 or 29, but its like 80 - 100% humidity and feels oppressive here.

We get snow here in Dunedin, but not that much and not that often. About 3-4 times a year and 20 cm at the most up here in the hill suburbs. I quite like the snow because they generally close the schools for the day and I get a day off work to look after them.

We get the other extreme in summer. Central Otago where we usually holiday hits mid 30s in the summer. When I was a teen I used to work on the cherry orchards in central to earn some summer money and they called off work one day because it hit 38 and it was just too hot to work outside.
What? Me Worry
Yep. Environment Canada Is saying, snow, cold and colder.
Yay for being in "southern" Ontario.

Hi all,
About 30 years ago when i was working in a large franchise garage, somebody from Rotarua NZ (spelling may not be correct) came to England to visit & site see for a couple of years. He had to work while he was over here and so he got a job with us just to pay his way. The first winter that he was here it started snowing with really large flakes and was laying straight away, he ran outside the main door and started to scoop up the snow and jump around laughing & shouting . I was amazed when he came back inside (freezing) because he told me that he had never see snow . This guy was in his late 20's or early 30's.
Saying that though, in a reasonably small country like the UK there are still people that have never been to a beach or seen the sea.

Rotorua is in the top half of the North Island so has a more temperate climate, it does snow in New Zealand but it's mostly in the lower half of the South Island and up in the mountains. We have numerous ski-fields in New Zealand on both islands, so it's not like he couldn't see snow at home if he had really wanted to.
What? Me Worry
And even more interesting is that Rotorua is inland and sits 300m above sea level, so its winters are much colder than the rest of the Upper North Island. It actually snowed to lake level in 1995, but snow is very rare below 700m. Most winters, you can see Mt Tarawera (1150m) across the lake and it may get a dusting in the coldest winter months of June, July and even August.

In bad years (One in every 4 or 5) it may snow on Mt. Ngongotaha in the City (760m). Usually like the rest of the North island, winters are snow free but miserable. In Auckland it rains every 5 days out of 7 between May and September and 1 day a week is a torrential downpour. Sunny and fine days are rare and mostly 1 or 2 at most as breaks between storms. They are also cold with highs barely reaching double figures.

Taupo (370m) gets snow every decade on average and Waiouru (840m) gets snow several times a winter. Between two is the desert road which rises to 1100m and snow often closes it in the winter. Rarely you can get freak snowfalls as early as March and late as December. Last year, a cold snap on Nov 20 -22 saw the road close due to snow.

I went on a road trip to Florida with my best friend. Apparently it snowed back home in TN today, but it's gorgeous here. Also, don't forget the lunar eclipse tonight
Unusually, Vilnius got plenty of snow in this winter, both in December and in January.
I enjoy it.
My city looks like this:

I prefer places where trees grow.

After having taken pleasure in watching snowy trees I go to the top of a hill and look around.

Vilnius is worth visiting now.

Here in Palmerston North, we have a saying "Welcome to Palmerston North where you can experience four seasons, in a day!" And they're not wrong, we usually have strong winds, sun, rain and even hail most days. But luckily it never snows here. Right now it was just raining, windy, cloudy and the suns out.

Last time we had snow was in 2011.

If it was snowing in Palmie in January, I would not be concerned, but frightened!

They claimed it snowed in Auckland on July 26 1939 and August 15/16 2011. In fact both times the "snow" turned out to be graupel and it can't have snowed as the coldest temperature for both days was +6c. Generally the warmest you can have for snow is about 3c, and it would have to be the dew point under 0 for that to happen. If it gets near 0c in Auckland it will be a clear dawn/early morning in winter only.

Another snow report came from July 1995, the same storm that brought some light snow to Rotorua, Taupo and Murupara (All elevated places) also Auckland. But the report turned out to be the Waiatarua Fire station, this location is 380m above sea level in the Waitakere mountains. As climatologists know you lose 1c for every 150m up, so the area may have had sleet or snow, but none fell any lower in Auckland. This is an isolated village, the higehst hill suburbs in Auckland are 150m up. Mt Eden (200m) in the city had no snow reported.

I remember specifically that me and my family were in Levin when it started to snow, my cousin had come over from the UK with his now ex-wife. My cousin, brother and I were in the Levin Adventure Park when we saw the clock tower go down to 0 degrees and it started snowing. Of course, we went home and had a snowball fight and the best of the best got the high ground in our backyard! It was great though because I got even more time of school:D.

You're pretty acurately describing winter in the Netherlands.

I've come to hate these slack, uninspiring winters, and with me many others. By the millions, the Dutch flee on holidays to the Alps or to Scandinavia to have some sense of winter, and some even go multiple times. Climate warming thus leads to behaviour which will heat up the climate even more ;(

I wish we could get some of the Canadian snow over here.
If it helps 12 degree rain is not that pleasant either, and the rich here head to ski fields to see some real snow.

No snow down here either but I'm experiencing the same phenomenon, where late January-February is noticeably colder than December. 8~

I always prefer heat to cold... at least the sun's shining, so it's not too chilly where I am (and I can get away with wearing just a light hoodie instead of layers and layers of coats).
The heavy shower passed just there now, last night as mentioned earlier it was a great time to look over a few coins and eat the last of the Christmas cake!:D

It has been going on for an hour with no signs of stopping, <:D

BTW: @xblamecanadax - As it is an uncommon occurrence here in the uk for snow most years (usually rain/sleet where I am) , I couldn't stop thinking about this post when a cartoon in the local newspaper depicted a person burning coal, turning on the oil etc. with the caption "Come on climate change, faster, faster!" :O
