A few coins arrived today, and much to my delight they came with old auction tickets from 1961! [25 years before I was born ] which delighted the nerd within me!
So lets play a little guessing game for fun. Nothing too esoteric or rare here. [Perhaps the Reuss one is scarce]
The prices are denominated in USD. And remember $1 back then would not be worth $8.27.
Quote: "oggy"Okay well as nobody really seems interested i'll just tell you all!
1. $3.50
2. $3.00
3. $5.00
4. $7.50
5. $4.50
6. $4.00
Adjusted for inflation, this comes out at:
1. $29
2. $24.81
3. $41.35
4. $62.02
5. $37.22
6. $33.08
I find this super interesting, extrapolate from it what you will.
Those are prices I would love to pay for those coins...but I guess those were the good old days. I knew someone who put together a set of the old US commemorative half dollars just by roll hunting in the late 50s early 60s. Essentially getting most at face value. Nevermind that the full set today is about 10-11k for UNC examples.
