Stumbled across this sword and curious to what language is engraved on it
I can see some Greek characters, if not, I’d guess one of the caucuses like Armenia or Georgia
Old irish?
Hello and welcome,

Rather odd request for a coin collectors' site..... but here's my guess: It's some fantasy language that the sword's maker cooked up to make it look like something out of a Tolkien novel.

Unless I'm wrong, which I very possibly could be.... in which case it looks like Greek mixed with Hebrew.
imho fake-language

Why is written upside down and poorly executed?

either your photos are reversed, or the inscription is mirrored.

viewed like this I can find every single character in this chart.
transcribing "anestarh adhathangichathol henthadaroddanithangani aron"
I was a Tolkien geek, but not enough to tell you if this means anything in Sindarin.0:)

@Mr Midnight

Thanks for clarification.

Just as i told, reversed and bullsh*t language from LOTR.

PS: Isnt it sad that wikipedia is full of this donkey hogwash but numista is not relevant enough?

I wonder what brought OP to Numista.

I saw a very similar sword around 6 months ago, I think it was the same script. I entered the shop to ask about it but the owner didn't knew what was written.
Now I have a answer. Thanks midnight cat.
