i thought so too. some kids from metalworkingclass where testing the tools in their lunchbreak.

In Monnaies et Jetons de l'Indochine Française Lecompte lists a few other similar Indochinese essais with similar alterations, mostly for the purposes of testing the piastres' weight. 1931 was the first and only year of issue, for the new reduced size piastre.
