How many of you have reached the 150 country milestone and how many days did it take for you to make it to 150?
I have been collecting seriously for 2 years and I have 135 countries as of now. I'm sure I would reach 150 by next week.
I started to collect world coins 2 years ago, but I haven't registered them anywhere, I 've just sorted them into boxes by country. I've started to register them on Numista a few weeks ago because I begin a new collection (one of each circulating type), so I kept the coins in the best condition and added everything else to my swaplist, so I can swap them for types I don't have yet.
Currently I have 178 countries (211 issuers) and 2905 different types on Numista, but I still have many boxes and bags to go through.
I'm currently sitting at 164 countries and 263 issuers.
I don't know when I did it but it was probably two years ago, before I began keeping comprehensive records on the "latest issuer added to your collection" thread. Been collecting for seven years or so.
When I joined Numista in Jan 2017, I only have few hundreds coins from 20-30 countries. Since then, my collection keeps growing. Now after 19 months or so, I'm at 181 countries/199 issuers; majority of them were acquired from swaps with super-supportive members of this community. Some were gifts from friends/colleague, some were purchased from flea markets/online marketplaces.
Last year, I got up over 300 countries, and joined the old "300 Countries Club" shortly before the big catalog reorg, which dropped me down to well under 300. I currently have only 271 Numista countries (483 issuers).
At one time, there were discussions about replacing the "300 Countries Club" with either a "240 Countries Club" or a "250 Countries Club", to be roughly equivalent to the old one.
I have 225 countries, but I really can't say when i passed 150. Maybe 2 years ago..or 3..? I haven't bought or swapped coins in 2.5 years, so i've been standing quite still. I've been thinking of to reduce my collection to like half its present size. I'm just too lazy to photograph 3,000 coins. When will I find the time?

I have been thinking the same tough I have "only" 3000 coins by type or subtype. But the effort would be so big that it wouldn't be worth the time and money. Most of my coins are common coins with common dates so the only clever option would be selling them in bigger groups or in kiloware. I think it is better to keep them all and enjoy looking at them.

agreed, and that's my dilemma; they're too common..my plan is to get rid of all my doubles..i don't need five, six, coins of the same year..and since i'm planning on moving across the globe it's just not reasonable to bring 7,000 coins..even half would be too much..my 1600+ banknotes are in albums, so they're fine, but my coins are in boxes all over the place..

I recently got into photographing coins, and I'm basically just photographing about a thousand of my over 3,000 coins; the other two thirds (roughly) are common modern coins I won't ever bother photographing probably (unless I get really bored).
been collecting a couple of years and am On 204 countries, 256 issuers.
I am lucky enough to live near London, England and so can go to coin
fairs fairly regularly and easily.
My latest additions were
Italian States [Lombardy-Venetia]
and
German States [Grand Duchy of Hesse-Darmstadt]

Collect what you like and like what you collect.
Remember you are only the custodian of you collection, its only yours for your lifetime.
i was a proud member of the 300 coin club- and even had the 300 coins in one album in alphabetical order, until some bright cookie destroyed all that. would easily get in the 150 but cannot be bothered(lazy) still have that album of 300 plus coins though
I have 236 countries and 351 issuers. Took me a couple of years to get to 150.
My collecting is different than a lot of peoples, I am more of a historian so I am drawn to different countries, rulers and fringe items. Having a bunch of coins of the same type ordered by year and mint mark is not my thing.
I just added my my 137th country, Latvia, a 1929 silver 5 lati coin, but it took me a long tome to get coins from any countries above 100 because I want to get only coins I like and not just to increase numbers unless I happen on to any in the 15 cent bin and the local coinstore.
I am now at 172 countries and 192 issuers, but I started to collect coins a long time ago.I was seven years old, and my father gave me a holed Norwegian coins, that he found in the Genova harbour (He was working in the harbour). I liked it very much, and asked for more foreign coins, ... then I become a nuisance for anyone going abroad, ..., then I started to work at the university with many occasions to travel, and ....
And so, after more than 50 years I have a lot of coins, but my goal is not to reach a huge number of countries, but to be able to have all the circulating coins of the 20th century, i.e. coins with date between 1900 and 2000.
Currently, I am abroad (Paris), but next week will be back to my hometown ready for swapping.
