Hi everyone
I have had this old coin laying around and thought it was about time I tried to find out more about it

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

That looks similar to me, might point you in the right direction at least. I am certainly no expert in that era though, perhaps someone else can narrow it down more for you.
Welcome to Numista, please provide WDM for ID requests! (Weight, Diameter, Metal)

In this case the weight might be helpful in determining your coin's authenticity, of which I am seriously in doubt of.
I can read 1982 on the coin.
This gives me the idea it is a replica.
Thanks for the replies.
I thought the date said 1882 but not sure.
Just weighed it with some old kitchen scales (not ideal) and it showed about 35 grams and the diameter is 40mm
Not sure about metal

Thank you
Hi,

See here :

It is described as a trial coin but I wouldn't go for that. It's more likely to be a replica. Nonetheless, I'm not certain of anything.

The "original" is this one :

Definitely replica.
