A friend of mine brought this for me from circulation two years ago when he did some volunteering work in Uganda Not the best shape notes, but I like them.

1918 Ukraine (Odessa) 50 Karbovantsiv
1918 Ukraine 1000 Karbovantsiv
Both these notes were printed in the violent, chaotic time in the immediate aftermath of the October Revolution.
Indeed, 20th century was a bloodshed for my country... Nowadays it's not much better, though.

Oh, I thought you were Polish!
But yes, I agree; it is very tragic what has happened there recently.
@Salaction
Thank you!
They're both actually very cheap; under 10€ each.
I actually bought the second one (the 1000 Karbovantsiv) from cgb's retail store in Paris the last time I was there:

It's the exact note, from their archives ^^
Well, a lot of people think that I'm Polish because I talk a lot about Poland (and speak fluent Polish). I moved from Ukraine to Poland at the age of 21 and then lived there for 6 years before moving to the Netherlands last year. Warsaw is my favorite city and, of course, Poland has left an impact - those were the years when I finished my studies and got my first real job and then got married. In terms of numismatics, I started to collect coins seriously 5 years ago - in Warsaw (although I collected random coins since I was 9), because there was (and still is) a nice flea market every Sunday.
But now I build my life almost from the scratch... again!
Poland is actually one of those few countries in Europe I have not yet had the chance to visit (also includes Belgium, Luxembourg, Ireland, Iceland, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Slovenia, Cyprus, Malta, Ukraine, Belarus, the Baltics, and the micronations of San Marino and Andorra).
By the way, about a MPCC-style banknotes contest; how would you organise that? It would probably be a shorter and smaller affair than the MPCC that just ended. Either way I'm getting excited; I have a few nice notes I set aside just for something like this.
I'm gonna have to re-do all my pics for a banknote competition since I put a watermark signature on all mine. So please let me know pretty far in advance

I think it's save to say that it's coming, Ngdawa, so better prepare :D
Well, submit your banknotes and their descriptions to me until the end of October and we'll organize a small contest. Australia/Oceania, Asia, North America, South America, Africa, Europe

Choosing entries will be the hard part now....
It's because you have too many nice banknotes... If you send half of them to me, it would be less pressure to choose the right one

Anyone can tell me by the way what exact year my 5 Pounds Banknote is from? I don't see a year and on colnect I see it must be this note, because of the autograph, but it says first issued 2012 and last issued 2014, so it could be three years? How to find out.
I don't know where you found the 2012/2014 date info, the note is printed in 2002 after my knowledge.
Also, around the big white circle on the front is a text, here you find the 2002 date.
For this one, I lived in the UK for like 16 and a half years, so I better have some nice stuff from there!
I'm actually a little disappointed I passed up the chance to buy a white pound note, maybe a £5.
United States of America: Large size notes 1 dollar 1923
5 dollars 1914 (9-I; Minneapolis)
20 dollars 1914 (10-J; Kansas City)
Nicknamed "horse blankets", the smaller size notes (that are still the current size of all US banknotes in circulation today!) began being issued in 1928.
United States of America: Small size notes 1 dollar 1928 A
Bonus, just like for the UK! (I hope I didn't overrun USA day... ):
USA Military Payment Certificates USA MPC 5 cents, Series 1947
USA MPC 1 dollar, Series 1947
USA MPC 25 cents, Series 1948
USA MPC 5, 10, 25 cents, Series 1952
USA MPC 10 cents, Series 1966
USA MPC 5 cents, Series 1968
I remember reading that the last two, issued during the Vietnam War, are extremely common in Southeast Asia; since the US military switched out the different Series quite often, the old series would lose their value and stacks of them would just be abandoned by the GIs on the roadside. I bought those two cheap over in Singapore, so that seems to back that up.
Quote: "Salaction"Where’s the other side Ngdawa :D?

Here are my banknotes from Uzebekistan. I miss the 50000 Uzebekistan So'm because the person who brought them from me (a colleague of the husband of my wives cousin :P) met with a priest on the way back to Moscow and got that one blessed, so he wouldn't want to give it to me anymore :D
Quote: "ngdawa"Here's the first 7 notes from the same set as Salaction posted:
Uzbekistan, 1 Soʻm, 1994
Uzbekistan, 3 Soʻm, 1994

Uzbekistan, 25 Soʻm, 1994
Uzbekistan, 50 Soʻm, 1994

Quote: "Salaction"Always love the banknote and coin designs of all those island countries!
I have notes from Vanuatu too, but they were from before it's independence in 1980, and called the "Nouvelles Hebrides/New Hebrides" (posted in N).
Fun fact, Vanuatu is one of only two modern countries in the world to have been ruled as a "condominium", or by two countries at once over the same territory (the UK and France), the other is Sudan (UK and Egypt).

I'll check the N Post again, sure I saw them Didn't even know Vanuatu was called like that and how does that work being ruled by two countries at the same time? Wouldn't there be constant arguments?

If I recall correctly it's usually a compromise to solve an argument about who owns this territory.
In this case, there were settlers from both neighbouring British colonies and French ones in Oceania; but neither side wanted to cede sovereignty over the islands to the other, so they came to that arrangement in 1906, which lasted until 1980.
