The groove is to identify it, as very few tokens look like it then the machinery will recognise it. The above link has been on Numista for a while, so I did not add it ! It currently has a Rarity Index 75, so many members also have one. Also on there it says three years 1966 1981 1982 of issue - and on your first image it is split either side of the logo (looks like the one used by John Deere farm machinery!) and is 1966 Western date, or תש כ״ו i.e. 5726 in Hebrew numerals. Well, I thought they were unique, but I forgot I had this 1937 French telephone token. Admittedly yours has a hole in it, and looks like the groove on mine has a sloping edge. But the groove is there !
Wow ZakUK, thanks for the info! I did think that the groove was a man made thing. I'm starting to wonder if it might be fun to collect tokens too! I'll just have to learn how to add my others onto Numista. I seem to have quite a few... I've got quite a few more coins for you to help ID, but I'm first trying to find them myself before I rely on your superior sleuthing powers... I think I have about 6000 coins on my Numista collection, and about 2000 plus still to add. I just never seem to get to the end. I've decided to stop shopping for a while
