Coin shopping list

6 posts
I had to make a list a while ago to keep track of the Australian predecimals that I am missing.
Does anyone else have a shopping list or do you just keep it in your head? Here are some photos of my list.

I could put the rest of the list in but I am sure you don't want to see my florin pages. 8~

I have the the max price there, going off my local coin dealer who I think is a bit expensive, so I am happy if I find anything cheaper.
I just have my wish list on Numista for types I fancy (far too many x.) and a Wanted-List for my countries I collect by year on my profile
I also don't want to see what they would cost me /!\
I picked up some Aussie florins today if there's any you need. I got 2 of the 1927 florin, the 1954 commemorative, 1942, 1952, 1962 and the round 50c coin you have as your avatar.

Personally I don't actually have a specific collection so I don't have a shopping list. I just buy bulk lots, sell enough to get my money back, then keep anything else from the lot that I want, or swap it for stuff I want. In the end what I get is a free collection :D
What? Me Worry
Personally I keep it in my head, although for some types (e.g. to know which Belgian type, French or Dutch, I'm missing, I have to pull out the mobile version of Numista to see which page has a green tick next to it for me already and which ones don't. Just can't be bothered to keep a physical list, I suppose.

A type collector's greatest nightmare is finding out they already have the same type they bought at home... That's something I've done a few times with British India already. ``-

I totally agree with you Idolenz I wouldn't want to know either except that I don't want to pay more than I have to.

I know what you mean even as a year collector. I was at a coin fair three days ago, and I even had my list yet I manage to buy the same two coins off different dealers because I didn't have a pen to cross the coin off my list.:~
However it was only a $4 mistake and I need to display that particular portrait of the queen on the obverse as well in my album so I was lucky.
I'm also using the wishlist here on numista (easier for a type collector than a year collector I guess), but as I'm more of a cheap junk-bin addict (€0,50 maximum) with luck, whenever I do buy something I already have it's mostly good for swapping.

BTW I have 25 full pages and one half page on my wishlist, that means still 2550 coins that I still want for now (I marked most countries till end of 19th century, afterwards I can still move back in time). That's almost as much as I already have in my collection (about 3100), but getting harder everyday to swap (silver, older, commemoratives, low mintage, ... are the ones missing).
Just call me Bram

No new swaps for the moment, still too many half-ongoing swaps to clean up!
