Is there any value in counterfeit coins?
Does anybody collect them?
I have a South African 5 shilling coin dated 1958 with the head of George VI on it.
I know George VI died on Feb 6 1952 so it is obviously wrong!
Anybody any ideas on this?

Have you checked the coin edge incase its been spliced and joined ?
just a possiblity.
No its not been spliced and joined
Strange to counterfeit a non-existent coin?

Very good counterfeit. Even has the designer CLS below the Springbok jumping. I have several 1948,1950,1951 and later with Queen Eliz II
I have 2 of these if anyone is interested
I suspect they will react to a magnet, since the shown fake does not look like silver.
I collect coins and tokens which circulated in Africa from 18th century to 2000. I sell about 7000 illustrated world coins from http://www.avscoins.com.
they are not magnetic
