Colombia 1959 10 centavos - weird 1 in date [solved]

Hi all,
please see below image of 2 Colombia 1959 10 centavos side by side. Notice the coin on left has a weird looking 1 in the date. Its seems to be upside down serif. However the coin to right which is correct has a sans-serif 1. Any ideas of what this is?

Looks like a die break. You can see it going from the bottom of the shield through the 9 to the 1 ... also the right flag through the M. That's a well used die .
The other coin seem to have a beginning break as well at the bottom of the shield.

yes, clearly the same crack at an earlier stage of development, beginning between the 9 and the bottom of the shield.

Look for other coins with the same die break, then it becomes interesting in value.
Keep the coins together.

I have no such coins to compare.

I have just now entered one of these coins into my catalogue, and it shows significant die cracks on both sides. Curious, I looked on eBay and a high proportion of the coins shown there, had these as a similar feature. Who knows why, but I don't see these as adding value, though I must say OP's example is a good one. AY

Both coins have the same break in the die.

I would say it's a cud!
