Today, my silver coin total is recorded as 3,000, but no idea how I got the last one, as I have not added a silver coin for a few weeks now, so was stuck on 2,999.
No worries, and am very happy to have achieved this little milestone.
It was probably the Jefferson wartime nickel - a few days ago, its official listed composition was changed from a detailed description (which didn't count as silver) to "Silver (.350)" (which did).
Congratulations -- my whole collection weighs 10.0 Kg, according to Numista. Of course, for security reasons, Numista cannot see my US silver coins or private silver bars, etc. Anyway, I hope my collection never weighs 170kg, or even 50kg.
My own Numista collection apparently weighs 14.3 kg, of which only 0.556 kg is silver.
Of course that doesn't include my random hoards of modern Russian coins, which in total could probably easily double that number. (Well, the former number, anyway, since none of it is silver.)
Most of the silver proof coins do not actually live with me, but in a secure place a few miles away. I get visitors rights once a week, so go and admire them and take any additional ones I have swapped, bought or indeed been given.

Have you ever wondered about buying gold? Or you like silver the most?
Trp,
Yes, I have found the same with the prices of silver.
I have found silver coins, with the same weight, diameter and mintage, but prices of some of them are double the others, but reasoned are unknown.
If I need any of the coin coins on offer, I really have to look at the prices, and get one, even if it is at the expensive end of those on offer.
I do get a little discount as I visit the shop reasonably regular. Manage to get a few banknotes too.
Congratulations,
Personally I only have 20oz of silver on Numista for security reasons, so for example I would not input multiples of the same bullion coin in my collection however would put on multiples of older silver such as crowns dollars etc.

Usually from my local coin shop. Been going there for years, so get a bit of discount. Try to get good deals on eBay when I see them.
Travelled half the world and always looked for coin shops in the main cities. Not so good discount though, but still bought some.
Also done some great trades with other people.
Best of all is the gifts from my wife.
My maths continues to baffle me.
Earlier, I stated that I suddenly had arrived at 3,000 silver coins, without adding anything, and yesterday I discard another, and my total is 3,013.
Must go back to school and learn how to add.
Tovarich,
I have moved onto 3,021, but congratulate you on achieving that incredible total. I am sure you will but the 3,000 mark, early next year. Please post a message when you do.
Geoff
Turned out my coin shop had lots of nice foreign silver for me this week, so I arrived at 3,000 and went over by 9 this morning
I am far behind your 56 kg of silver though and far behind your 170 kg total, so I'm not sure I'm worthy of admittance into the club. Many of mine are small US, Canadian and British coins that contribute little to the weight.
Tovarich,
3,000 is 3,000 in everyone's language. Whether you have all of the same coin, or 3,000 different coins, it's still 3,000.
You are, therefore, officially in the club as far as I am concerned. Here's to the next few hundred or one thousand.
Merry Christmas
Geoff (coinman1)
