hello I have noticed lately that free coins are provided for feedback, and it does not seem ok to me , correctly they are obtained through time by swap (in this way can appear scammers who offer free coins make a good feedback and then swindle the other collectors)
If you want to give a coin please make it as a gift - this is my oppinion
Thanks for this post! It's a new way for swindlers to get positive feedback and then cheat Numista members. A honest member that want to give coins no need to do that as a regular swap.
I, too, watched this trend with mixed feelings, and this morning, I reported it to the Numista moderators. I asked them to arrive at some kind of statement on it. There is 'economic value' in a good Numista swap record, and offering peanuts in exchange for a good swap rating is a questionable type of trade. This behaviour has an impact on the trustworthyness of Numista swap records and thus on Numista as a whole.

Indeed, it can be compared with buying votes, which is illegal in any democracy.
Or you can just put in the rating that you received the coin for free. Then a other user swapping can see that it wasn't a swap, but a giveaway? Two of four people rated didn't mention that though and I think all four received just a free coin. I did put it in my comment of rating as I was one of the people who received a coin for free.

to make a swap like this you need time , many active swaps
i dont accuse maybee he is a honest collector but we need to be careful
I have a spare one of these, so if anyone wants one please send me a PM.

I have been a forum member under the same name on a number of coin and stamp forums for upto 20 years with thousands of posts. I don't need your surplus coins - I have about 50 kilos of my own.
Friends, if I had wanted to cheat you I could have 100's of coins on the way to me right now.
In the last 10 days I have refused swaps with 18 members.
Quote: "Kristian Borisov"When you rate them just write thank you for the gift, or something with the same meaning. Gifts are gifts and have nothing with the swaps i think.
Exactly what I said. I don't think he is a scammer. But it's a choice people will have to make for themselves.
Besides I also offered him to have a look at my swap list and pick something in return, but he never asked for something. He didn't mention there wasn't anything on my swap list that he would like, I guess he never even watched. Because it was a giveaway.
I reckon if you're going to game the swap ratings system then it's at least the most benign way to go about it. Much more preferable than creating a dozen sock puppet accounts to exchange feedback back and forth with. I'm guessing that's your real name too? You would be a very sorry kind of scammer if couldn't come up with something more anonymous.
So while I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt and assume that your intentions are good, you must also understand that fraudulent feedback is always going to be seen as the prequel to scamming. Why not just build feedback the old fashioned way by making legitimate swaps with other members and if you feel inclined to make a few giveaways, then do so. There is no legitimate reason to build fake feedback. Am I wrong?
I'm not sure what you are trying to achieve by publishing a list of every swap you've turned down. I'm firmly of the belief that unless there's something hokey going on that other members need to know about, a swap is just between two people. Personally speaking, if anyone ever decided to publish private conversations or details of swap offers to third parties, I'd never deal with that individual again.
By undermining the integrity of the ratings system you are doing everyone a disservice. It's not just that you are receiving the feedback, you are also giving the same out to others. I see the name of a well known thief and scammer in these topics, presumably when he gets his free coin and gives you some glowing feedback for the "swap" then you will be returning the courtesy? No need to answer, I see it's already happening. Don't you feel any kind of responsibility for giving insincere feedback to a guy who will use it to steal coins once he's built up enough to demand that others mail first?
Before anyone asks, yes I do give away free coins to new or younger collectors, usually unseen and certainly not with the intent of benefiting from it.
Please reconsider your actions.

I for one believe Andrew is legit.......might not be the way I or most of us get the swap ratings up, but my way isn't the 100% correct way either, since I only buy coins and never return any.
I have 2 swaps/purchases in the works with this member and I am sure I will get my coins.
The first one includes the free coin and purchased coins, and when I get them, and they are what he says they are, Andrew will get a good rating from me. Regardless of the free coin, I don't need it and it didn't make me contact him. What did make me contact him was the other coins on his swaplist, which I purchased on swap one and will purchase on swap 2 once we sort it out.
i know my rating is not up there with some of you, but I had transactions with some of you and I have been around for awhile.....so all I can say is that in this particular case a ban would be a crock of s...t
Now I will have a cold beer, clean a few of my guns and enjoy the first night in 20 damn days without rain.

that the exchange ended with refusal is normal because it happens so, but publishing a list of people with whom you have not come to an agreement is no longer right.
As it was written, this is your private affair and those collectors you have had contact with.
The PROTECTION OF PERSONAL DATA already works
you know what it means?
without the consent of collectors, you publish their data
it is threatening with legal consequences
think about it and correct it
It's complicated.
Anyway there are other ways to circumvent the system, such as making unprofitable small swaps, thereby building a good swap record for affordable price; or routinely exchanging non-euros to euro coins (and banknotes) at a profit, thereby acting as a coin shop.
A public giveaway in exchange for swap points is not so bad, just because it is visible to users who read the forum. And of course other users giving a rating should mention whether it was a usual exhange, sale or charity.
Iam not sure, Not the best way of doing it. I have gave a lot of coins away. And very much like doing it. But never thought about getting a swap rating for it. But a lot of them end up with swaps down the line. I wish I had more time so I can get back to it. In time .
Well nothing good is easy , And it takes time. I have had I think 110 swaps. All at 100% happy. Not very much, but iam always sending 2 or 3 lots out free a month.
Banning someone for giving away free coins? I would hope not.
I don't think the guy is a crook, he just hasn't thought out the implications thoroughly enough. There's a very thin line between making lots of low value swaps to get good feedback and giving away cheap coins. I recall making plenty of low value swaps when I first started, often enough in hugely disadvantageous terms. As a new member you will be expected to mail your coins first so it would be a very brave man who would start off with $200 trades right out of the gate. Start off small and work your way up is the usual advice given.
