I have been looking at a few storage options to smartly display a small hammered coin. The coin in question is a denier of Charles the Bald, it's about 20-21mm in diameter and is slightly thicker than most later English hammered medieval coins.
I have looked at a few options and I was wondering if people have had any experience with some them and would be able to advise on their suitability.
Has anyone ever used a storage case like this: http://www.arrowfile.com/wooden-coin-case-prodc7910/ with a mouldable base? Just how much pressure is needed to 'mould' the coin indent? Do you think creating the indent would damage a hammered coin?
I have also considered using 'floating frames' like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Safe-Albums-Floating-Frame-Black/dp/B01M5JYTDA/ref=pd_bxgy_229_img_2?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B01M5JYTDA&pd_rd_r=ae2125c2-5e81-11e8-8ed0-53fcfdb34f4f&pd_rd_w=oIgFG&pd_rd_wg=FJtFF&pf_rd_i=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_p=3332058357179395958&pf_rd_r=ZTTYKJ2ZY0EB2PQZPDZ0&pf_rd_s=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_t=40701&psc=1&refRID=ZTTYKJ2ZY0EB2PQZPDZ0 Have any of you ever used them for storing coins? I'm concerned that the plastic membrane may damage the coin as the coin will have to be directly applied to it, it will not be in its own plastic capsule.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
