Fake pounds (old type)

I bought old pound coin lot (150 pcs) and found three fakes. Are fakes now flooding the bulk lots or where they went after withdrawn? Three pieces is not much yet but I found this very interesting topic.

1 round pound coin in 50 is about the ratio of fakes in circulation before they were withdrawn

I've faced the same problem recently.

I haven't been a big fan of contemporary fakes but now I may add these to my pound collection. I sent all the doubles of the pound lot to the exchange service so they may find some other better quality fakes.

Contemporary fakes are real phenomenon in numismatics and as a such it deserves a place in my collection. In this particular case the phenomenon lead to the end of the old round pound.
