Coin additions and modifications [solved]

2 posts
Hi everyone.
I just spent a long time writing a message to an administrator who helps me quite a bit, only to have my session timed out when I hit send. So, I decided to start a new thread instead on a subject which has been closed, but is frustrating me.
I read and understand the TOS, but whenever I spend lots of time researching and adding coins which seem to sit in limbo, it is a bit upsetting. Worse than that is what I just found while double checking some additions I had done in April. There is a section where I have tried to add coins as I purchase them (specifically to add to the catalog). Several of you have helped me to verify or to find some of those coins. Tonight I check one of my added pages. My coin is replaced with a coin which is not even close to being correct to the assigned identification number. All the lettering is changed to match the incorrect coin, so I went back into page, changed everything back, added my reference websites again (which were originally three), and wait.
The point is, just like the closed thread from 2016 on this similar subject, why ask for additions if:
1) Approval takes so long ( I get it for very busy admins, but especially if you send me a message that tells me to add it)
2) For some unknown reason, some of my information is replaced with incorrect information (and I am not saying I have not made lots of mistakes myself on this site). Doesn't make sense to me.
There is more, but I will leave it at this.

Beware of forgeries. But....sometimes they can be valuable, too.
I completely understand your frustration... this is a big reason why most of my additions and edits are to countries I am referee for, so everything is automatically approved.

Usually I can get back to requests in under 24 hours, but unless you're the absolutely busiest of careerspeople, checking into Numista once a day or every other day to verify some requests isn't too difficult... I get that for ancient and medieval referees this task can be more complicated (research, etc.) but anything that has been pending for more than a week is fair ground for complaining if you ask me.

In my experience all of my edits for countries that aren't referee'd by myself have been verified in 2-3 days at most, so I suppose we're (the refs) doing a pretty good job on the whole. :wiz:
