Turkey - 10 Kurush coin from reign of Abdul Hamid

3 posts
I recently acquired a 10 Kurush coin (see below) as part of a small grouping and I would like to know what year it was minted in both the Arabic and Western Calendars. I believe its from the reign of Abdul Hamid II but have been unable to find an image with the same legend that is on this example.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Hello,

We can read AH 1327 and the forth regnal Year of Mehmed V on the coin ;)
It was minted in AH 1330 , so 1912 in the gregorian calendar.

Could we have the weight and dimensions of your coin, I think it's more likely a 5 kurus :

I don't have a scale to weigh it and I had to find a metric ruler, which took some time, so just getting back to you now.

The coin is approx. 24 milimeters (15/16 of an inch in imperial measure) in Diameter and I found a closed listing for a 5 Kurush piece on Ebay, which they say is 23.5 mm in diameter so I think you are correct this is likely a 5 Kurush coin.

Thanks very much for you help in steering me in the right directions.
