It is still polite to atleast respond to someone and not ignore them even if they don't have anything you need.

Hi Matt, being fairly new on here it appears to be standard practice to ignore requests and not respond, even from some of the referee's on simple small swaps !.
maybe more should be made of responding to a request, a polite refusal is better than nothing, especially from a referee representing numista's site!..
