Liberia: 50 cents 1968 / 1973, km17a.2, weights

Hi,

I was just putting the coin from 1973 aside in my collection, when I noticed the delta in weight to the 1968, which has the same KM#17a.2:

I have only two coins from 1968 and they are meassuring the same as shown in my documentation (with deviations only in the 1/100's). Unfortunately the only other coin I have is the 1973, so I have no means of checking further, but here are my findings:


For sure I'll make a change request concerning these two years, but I would have liked to know the data concerning the year, I miss, which is 1975, the other appearances in the table show only proof coins and they might be different, hence the false data in numista for the circulating coins?

My UNC 1968 example from FM Coin sets of all nations (restrikes for three bigger coins) weighs 9.16g. My example from the proof set weighs about the same, as listed.

So, there are two thicknesses? Especially since I've found more discrepancies in the other restrike vs that proof set.  More about that some time later…

For the official weight we should take a look into US treasury dept information, they had something for 1970s if I recall well.
