My first gold coin

Many of you will know that I gave up my collection in favour of some boys toys so I can get out and spend time with my kids. But I couldn't stay away from coins forever and I've been buying and selling coins, and after buying all my toys I still had some cash left over, so I thought I'd buy a few gold coins as an investment. This is my first gold coin, bought for slightly over melt

Well done and welcome to the world of shining gold!

Congratulations on your purchase!

It's a very striking gold coin
My thought was that I can have a small collection that has a high value but doesn't take up half our living room like my last one did. My wife is on board with that ;)
What? Me Worry
My wife has the same philosophy, but the downside is that I can usually buy a coin once in two or three months, while silver is more affordable but takes much more space. I'm not talking about base metal coins, since those just take a lot of space and weigh kilos!

I'm getting my coin fix by buying and selling coins, I get the fun of the hunt without the space taken up by keeping what I find. It has the upside of giving me a profit to spend on more coins :D

Congratulations!
Lovely shine!(;0
After a while you'll have a small but high quality collection.

Only the pre-1945 ones. I didn't really collect modern coins
What? Me Worry
I must say that you took a very good decision. The coin is wonderful, the strike is clean and it looks nice and shiny. Hope you keep building your collection, All the Best!

Why do you leave comments on months-old threads?

Not that there's anything wrong with it, it's just something I keep seeing you do about the forum and I'm kind of curious as to why. B.

1. I had missed the post and a comment put it back on top of the pile. Thanks for that.
2. "months-old" is not old ! I know that computers and phones have speeded thinks up quite a bit but please, not that much !
3. It is better to have fewer longer threads than 1000nds of very short ones. Unlike yu want our forum to look like my son's what's app account :D

For the topic, that coin is a beauty. I have been dreaming of a Noble like this https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces53984.html for my boats' collection but I am not sure it ever happens ...
