One of my bartenders knows I collect money and gave this to me, I know it's not worth much but it's still fun. Anyone else have some wooden certificates or coins?
"Nickle" is actually a misspelling. The standard spelling is "nickel", including in Canada and in the UK.
I wouldn't be surprised if the misspelling was intentional to make it "of the people". Just like people may intentionally write "ain't" or "he don't". An even better example is "critter" for "creature".
Here is one I just got this year. Yes we still have and use here.
and a bar from my home, same on both sides
There are a lot of them here in Oshkosh. We have a fair Saw dust days And for 30 or 40 years put out a wooded nickel. I have a few of them some were.
