Interesting Islamic coins - hard to identify

9 posts
Dear friends,

Would you please help me in identifying some coins, which I find hard to identify. I seek your expertise and will be very grateful for it.

1. Arab coin (presumably some of the caliphates?) It looks like Andalus or Almohad? diameters: 1,5 см х 1,5

2. Ottoman akce?- weight: 0.41

3. Another Ottoman akce? - very small

4. Either Caliphate of Cordoba or Mongol Empire or Abbasid/Samanid - diameter: 26 cm

Thank you very much in advance!

Kind regards,

Stefan

Dear friend,

Thanks to you, for a start, I found the first one: Anonymous Muwahhid (Almohad) dynasty dirham (North African Mint - Sebta), 1.47g - silver, as far as the years are concerned, the coin is struck before 640.

As far as the Egypt one is concerned, I think that it's this one (again, thanks to you):

So 2 down and 2 more to go.

A search on Zeno can reveal a lot:

Yes, this is true. Here is the 4th one:
Abbasid Caliphate:

Now only one remains.. but this small coin is not an akce, the closest one was Bayazid II but not the same one I think. It's not Travancore either.. :(

I'll continue to search for it manually in zeno, it would be way more easier if I got a clue :)) haha

hi, i think coin 2 is mustafa III
On the reverse of #2 it reads:

ضرب في اسلامبول

which translates as "struck in Islambul". Note that Islambul = Istanbul, Ottoman Empire / Turkey.
