When i was about like 12 i believe, i saw a Swedish 5 Krona with a cool 5 font and i was like wow that's cool! And i basically bought something for that, and i found out that it has only been minted 300 thousand times and i was like, man i was dumb back in the day.
Please use punctuation.
Also, how am I supposed to give constructive feedback?

are you talking about the 1993 coin? it's not really a big deal..you can probably get that coins for $1.20, so don't feel too bad about it, mate..
A stupid thing I did was to use metal cleaner on my set of cents. I had to start completely over...live and learn.

I think we all made our fair part of stupid things over the years. Here is one of many: I remember when I was around 13 - 14 I wanted to buy my first binder and coin sheets. Although it's about 45 years ago, I still remember there were two different coin sheets. One costed 20 BEF (0.5 €), the other costed 12 BEF. Of course at that age money was a problem so I bought the cheapest ones. The sheets consisted of several rows and each row had 3 compartments. The opening of the compartments to put the coins in was on the right hand side for the first and third compartment and on the left hand side for the second compartment. So you had to carefully keep the binder always upright (or upside down), but never sideways (left or right), even not even a bit or the coins started to fall out of the compartments. You don't want to know how many times that happened, that's why I remember it so well.
So after some years I've thrown away all these cheap coin sheets and replaced them by the more expensive ones.
I have done many stupid things. First and worst of all I bought a gold coin that I couldve gotten for 250$ on an auction, but I bought it for 350$ from a shop.

Also I once almost sold about 4kg of old markka coins for 50$ including four hundred 10 pennia coins (Im glad I did not)

Then I went and lost half of my 2 euro commemoratives by...I probably spent them accidentally on food.
When you find out on the Hong Kong Monetary Authority site that 10 cents and 10 dollars 1993 are very rare.
And you just spent them on lunch one day ago.

I am still not lucky enough to find one, according to Joseph Yam (the engraver) the chance is below 1%. Some idiots even more stupid than me took them out of coin sets and released it into circulation.
Okay, this would sound weird, but I've found an article where it stated that if you find (or have) any coins that are from 1995 it costs $20, and what's older costs more. I don't know if that's true, found this post here, but every time I get a change in coins, I check it's year....
Stupidest thing I did was buying a Swiss 1/4 Taler coin worth around 300-400€ in UNC condition that I really liked.
wanted to show it to a colleague at work during lunch.
coin fell out of my pocket somewhere and I never saw the coin again :snif:

Ouch! I think we have all lost a coin, but thankfully, not one so expensive!

So your the one putting commemoratives out into circulation for everyone to find in their change! :8D

Taking a break from swapping for a while, but still interested in pre 1799 Spanish coins, I will make time for that!

Looking for pre 1783 coins

Yes, there was about 50 commemoratives...
Weirdly actually here about 1/4 2 euro coins are commemoratives. I cant even remember how many I have, but atleast 5 of those "Finland 100 years" coins released in the summer.

2 euro coins are the reason why I do not often use a credit card.
As to me, the bigest mistake is to purchase coins missed in my collection in any condition! Finally I have a lot of coins in VF or VF+ condition and I really don't know how can I use this stock now.... There is no reason to swap one trash for other
And the second my mistake is to decline offer to buy Vatican mint set 2005 Sede Vacante per 70 EUR in 2007 in Milano on flea market, finaly I have bought it per 290 EUR in 2012 and it is seems to be a good deal now.
Like said my friend:
" You'd better buy and regret when don't buy and regret!" Brilliant frase for collectors!

Someday I got this from the change while I sent my letter from a swapping

I also got one from a restaurant (茶餐廳). I stuck a magnet to the 1-dollar coin section and one popped up - thanks to owner for letting me do so!
I used to be a cashier so that I can collect whatever it looks nice or Queen Elizabeth II Series. But hardly find any sources now after I quit the job :(
I'd love to be a cashier in British supermarkets. I am quick at calculation, and also some nice coins to hunt for (1 Guernsey coin and a Battle of Britain 50p in the same exchange)
1. Buying a lot of shiny UNC cheap circulation coins (or cheap commemoratives) from all over the world. Having a coin from each country is a fun idea, but collection overall looks cheap, heavy and useless.
2. As tolnomur already mentioned, buying VF or VF+ coins only because you miss them in your collection. You end up with a kilo or two of silver and you don't have anything special and eye appealing...

Sad but true, at least for me.

Indeed 8~

The main stupid things I did were not buying where I should defintely had. For instance a few months ago I got the opportunity to get the 500 and 1000 kronur silver coins from Iceland, still sealed in the small red box for 30€ ... :snif:

Another example but it was ages ago and not about coins but still hurting : signed vinyl for Iron Maiden (one of my favourite bands), as new, for 20€ on a flea market. I was about 13 so it was quite expensive looking to my budget back in the days so I didn't take it. :snif:

I remember doing something quite almost the same...

It was a 1763 George III 3 pence in VF-ish condition, though- so not as big a blunder, though certainly it haunts me to this day. That day, after I bought it I went out clubbing with some friends... I think it fell out of my pocket/bag at some point and I didn't even know.
One stupid thing I did when I was 7 or 8 was touch, with no gloves a bunch of uncirculated coins my dad bought for me. It still has the finger prints. My dad also bought me a November 23, 1963 (Kennedy assassination) news paper which I touched, and now there's lead finger prints on it.;(

I found a trial strike coin in my change. Put to the box with other low nominal coins and one day I change them in the bank. Never found this trial strike ...

I once bought a overpriced coin that I was sure was much rarer than it was, and I lost quite much... (Quite much meaning over 140€)

And yes, when I found out that it was worth much less than 20€, I was quite shocked. But lets not talk about that.
