Like most of you I like collecting coins. I also like my country (Netherlands) and the city I live (Deventer). How amazing if you can collect coins minted in your own hometown.
Deventer is a city in Overijssel, a province in the Netherlands. Back in the Dutch Republic (1581-1795) Overijssel minted provincial coins. A few cities in Overijssel and other provinces had their own minting rights. And one of them was my hometown Deventer. Below you find my collection of Deventer (Daventriae back then) coins.
Are there any other hometown coin collectors out there? Please show me yours!
Thanks!
Michael

My Hometown and where I live again is Stuttgart, in Germany.
Most famous maybe for being the hometown of Bosch, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche.
They are one of the official mints of Germany here so of course plenty of coins that they minted but not only present also with a long history. They are also minting many coins for other countries as well.
Here a 1/2 Dukat coin I chose as it pictures an old city view as well as the Symbol of Stuttgart the horse which you can also find for example on the Logo of Porsche.
Stuttgart‘s name comming from Stuten Garten which translates to „Garden of the mare horses“

In Hong Kong there were only two years where there was a mint. 1866 - 1868.
I would struggle to find a coin, a legitimate one, even if it was in Hong Kong.
My hometown Jena had minting rights from 1185 until 1450 and produced Bracteates and hollow Pfennigs, a few speciment were found with the city name IENE/ IhENE on it otherwise the distinctive feature are grape vines. Source
I live near Bath in southwest England, and as all UK coins are minted by the Royal Mint, I am never going to find a coin minted in this city.
Also, I know of no coins that commemorate the city, unless someone knows different.

Haha, at least it was a coin 600 years ago. Minted in nowadays Turku, Finland. Back then the city was part of Sweden and known for its Swedish name, Åbo. These are very scarce coins and rarely seen in auctions.
My example is minted by Erik av Pommern and has a value of 4 penningar (silver).
I have lived also in other former mint city, Helsinki. Today they mint all the Finnish coins at Vantaa.
