Algeria 10 Centimes. The Palm variety makes coin from 1984 more rare the 1989 coin

7 posts
Hi,
I think I know how to distinguish coin minted in Alger and which one in Kremnitz from 1984 ( 30,001,000 minted in Kremnitz (SK); 1,839,000 minted in Alger (DZ) ) year 1989 minted in Algeria is rare ( 3,759,000 ). Don't you think that coin minted 1984 with mintage 1.839,000 should be more rare, am I correct ? If you have this coin from 1984 please send me more photo so I can know if I'm wrong or not.

This is Alger mint coin year 1989

This is coin from 1984 where I think it's from Alger mint

Need some more examples, if you have this coin please let me know.

have a look at Cobra's documentation here:
https://varietes-2.000webhostapp.com/FICHE%20AFRIQUE/Algerie/ALGERIE%2010%20Centimes%20%20KM%20115.pdf
Anyway I don't like the word rare, it's true that the 1984 minted in Algeria is less common than the 1989, but does that make any coin minted in millions rare? NO.

For some reason, his website never worked with me
not sure why..
could you copy / screenshot the info please?

also to be clear, we are talking about differences between 1984 itself between the 2 mints (if exists) and not with 1989

Hi AmerSalmeh,

you probably have a blocker of insecure sites. My Mcaffee doesn't like his site either, but I override the warning.
Anyway here are the two pages of his documentation. Please remark that there is NO mention of two different types for the 1984 coin!

The KM-catalog doesn't mention the two types from 1984 either, so maybe there is only one type. I have noticed, that I still miss the 1989 coin in my collection.

Thanks Ole
I've removed the rare comment, and added cobra's pics to the comments section

what Damian was trying to achieve in this post is to find if we can distinguish between the 1984 coins minted at each mint, so I guess the question is still not answered

Yes, exactly Amer, I was trying to figure out if there is possibility to know which coin from 1984 was minted in Alger and which one in Kremnitz. I still need more pcs of this coin to verify.
