MPCC 2018 - NEW COMPETITION GUIDELINES

Good evening ladies and gentlemen!
Another edition of Most Popular Coin Contest is about to begin (without Neil, unfortunately).

You can submit your coins from now on and till the end of the year (31st of December 2017 23:59 CET) to me via PM only.

Here are some basic guidelines for this year's competition:

I would like to change a format a bit. Categories:
A - Australia and Oceania
B - Asia
C - North America (Panama won't be South America anymore)
D - South America
E - Africa
F - Europe
G - Ancients
H - Exonumia

The winners of those 8 sections will later battle for the most popular coin!

Also I would like to add two bonus sections (if there will be enough applicants):
1. Gold coins
2. Silver proof coins

There will be only two coins against each other - not 3, not 5. The number of coins in the round should be 4, 8, 16 or 32. If there will be too many coins (for instance, 18 coins is too much for 16 but too little for 32, then some additional rounds will be scheduled).

Only 1 coin from 1 member per section.

Let the competition begin! Almost 3 months left till the end of the application period. On the 1st of January 2018 we will start the competition from the Australia/Oceania section.

Please vote on the real coin, namely the one which is on the photo. If the photo is of bad quality or the coin is in low VF condition, don't vote as if it was an UNC beauty (8

Good luck and let the best coin wins!

Sincerely yours,
Oleg Druzhynets

What if there are an uneven number of coins? As in 33 or 17?

So it's time again? I might be able to participate this time, but I'm still thousands of miles away from my collection, so I will have to depend on that my back-up hard drive will work have nice pictures on it. :P I haven't even photographed half of my collection yet..

Hopefully the banknote forum will gain in popularity and we might have our first banknote competition by the summer. :D

Sounds good.
Great to see this back :O

Can you clarify whether the carribean will be in North or South America?

Also I'd suggest that the admin team pay close attention to people who vote with multiple account.

Carribean would belong to the North America section.

We will do our best to check the votes.

There was no more announcement recently, you should make a new reminder here and on the Free Forum section.

Cheers from the sunny Carribean,

Paul

Please verify if trial stikes are exonumia or should be posted as coin from territory?
Regards
If it is trial strike minted officially by the government, it counts as coin from that territory. If it's some kind of fantasy issue trial strikes - then definitely exonumia.

Only 1 coin from 1 member per section.

Then you mean to say that as long as the MPCC goes on, each member can enter only 1 coin per section?
It seems pretty clear no?
You can enter one coin from each of the categories A to H.

@druzhynets I made a forum post on the free French forum to remind them also if they still want to participate.

Hi Oleg,

do you have a listing of all the prizes that will be donated?

I couldn't seem to find it in the forum.

Hi,

I'm only aware of this topic:
https://en.numista.com/forum/topic64847.html
ROMA AETERNA
So you ran the whole competition with only a couple of the prizes finalized?
What? Me Worry
Oy well! I think that's a minor matter compared to how smoothly the competition went as a whole! If members were generous enough to offer to donate a prize, well that's yet an additional bonus to what I'd call an engaging and fun competition!
I collect anything: If it's Italian or Italian states i collect it even more!
Acknowledgment and fun are more important than the prizes, at least in my opinion. I did my best to make this competition run as smoothly as possible.
ROMA AETERNA
Any update on when the next MPCC might be run and from when Numista users can submit coins?

I might be open to donate a prize again.
