Show me your British Colonial Notes

I know some colonies never issued coins. Not sure how many of you may have them but I would be intrigued to see any you may have ! Notes are very interesting since they often carry artwork of the country of issue unlike coins ( obviously limited space)

I enjoy those colonials with the strange image of the Queen with parted hair.

British colonial banknotes always seemed like old churches to me; there's a stately ambiance about them basking in all their regal splendour, and yet like an old church, you start getting bored after the initial wow factor, owing to how all the colours are the same few shades.

I love the India notes with the image of the rupee on. I’ve seen these stamped for use in Burma too.

Thats a bit of moneys worth there ! I’ve seen Straits dollars sell and they’re not cheap. Never seen the 10 Lire before though what a cool note ! Bravo !

I must admit a lot of these, including the Straits note, were part of a more British-focused collection of a relative that I got to incorporate a couple years ago on my 16th birthday, doubling the size of my collection that was then barely two years old.

The 10 Lire was my find though, and it technically falls into the category of 'Italian Libya' I believe.

Yes, I suppose it does in a way. But then again British Administration did continue until the UN gave the states independence 1951 it’s a Transitional period.
