Well, I think I can already start getting the applications.
I would like to change a format a bit. Categories:
A - Australia and Oceania
B - Asia
C - North America (Panama won't be South America anymore)
D - South America
E - Africa
F - Europe
G - Ancients
H - Exonumia
The winners of those 8 sections will later battle for the most popular coin!
Also I would like to add two bonus sections (if there will be enough applicants):
1. Gold coins
2. Silver proof coins
There will be only two coins against each other - not 3, not 5. The number of coins in the round should be 4, 8, 16 or 32. If there will be too many coins (for instance, 18 coins is too much for 16 but too little for 32, then some additional rounds will be scheduled).
Great to hear you want to run the contest.
1st of November is too short for entries, make the time for entries a bit more long. I think until end of December would be adequate.
The two extra categories I think would be too much, they would probably not get enough entries.
If you want to I would be happy to donate some prizes if that is welcomed.
One more thing that should not be forgotten, we will need someone who translates each round onto the french forum.

What if people wanted to add gold coins and silver proofs in all or several categories (America, Europe, Africa...)?

Spot on.
Don't think we need the extra categories, and give it until January for all the entries. If we were going to add an extra category I'd first add 'Medals' on its own, and then Exonomia as a separate one, as loads of people have amazing medals.
Agree on the timing too, give people till the new year to submit their entries, then get it rolling in 2018. No need to rush into a new contest right now.

It's up to each contestant to choose what category he/she wants to apply to.
Sure, from today and till the end of the year (31.12.2017) you will be able to submit your coins for the contest and then we'll kick it off in the 2018 starting with Australia/Oceania!

Just to clarify, I can't enter coins in two categories or more?

You can add at most one coin for each category. The coins should not be the same. So the maximum could be 8 coins ( 8 basic categories) + 2 coins (2 bonus categories).

To get everything started I think you should start creating a new Forum topic "MPCC new competition guidlines".
For that you can use as a base the format from Neil and then change it to your and the forums liking, with for example the information you have written in this post.
Cheers,
Paul

Thank you for carrying on this tradition. Last year I dutifully voted in each round and eagerly awaited the outcome. Really a fun way for the Numista community to interact and enjoy the hobby.
Thank you my dear Oleg for stepping up to the plate. I never seem to be able to find the time to participate as fully as I would like but it's something that everyone gets a lot of enjoyment from. Good to know that it continues.
It does seem to have a "kiss of death" attached to it. Both Daniel and Neil have gone...... I very much hope you will still be with us this time next year and not a victim of the Curse of the MPCC.
Non illegitimis carborundum est. Excellent advice for all coins.
Make Numismatics Great Again!
1vs1 votes going on for ages will be ridicolous boring. Didnt we change that the last time for that very reason?
Maybe a more senior member should supervise you......
