I live in Moscow, and I'm considering going to the big COINS show, which I missed last year.
However, I'm not sure if I would actually have anything to do there. From the online descriptions it sounds more like an "Exhibition and Conference" than an actual coin show.
Also, my coin budget is tiny (I don't want to spend more than $50 or so), so I'm not sure I would find any coins I could afford even if they do sell any.
I am also not sure if the ticket is valid only for one day or for the entire show, or even if a regular ticket is valid to the area where coins are sold at all (the website is confusing as ch*rp, and doesn't really say anything except that there are, somehow, several different kinds of tickets).
I know that there are several members from Moscow (and/or elsewhere in Russia) on Numista, and that at least some of them intend to visit COINS 2017 and/or have visited one of the previous COINS shows.
As such, can any of them (or anyone else who happens to know) tell your impression of the show, and whether it's worth visiting at all (without a big budget)?
As I said, the information that I could quickly find online is scarce, and most of it is clearly intended for collectors that can afford really expensive coins (and most of what's left is about kids, which I'm sadly not one of either.)
I cant tell you how the show in Moscow would be, but if you have never been to one before, it might be worthwhile. If nothing else, you'll experience something new even without spending any money. You could watch auctions take place and chat up with the dealers anyways. Besides, you will get to see some great coins up close.
If it's not out of you way to attend one, its always worthwhile atleast going once.
Ultimately, I did end up going there, and spending all the money.
Unfortunately, by the time I actually went, there was only about two hours left of the show... I can hardly imagine which goodies I must have missed out on by not showing up earlier.
EDIT: also got totally swindled on that Cameroon franc... I paid $4 for it because of the quality, and didn't notice the corroded spot!
