Prince Charles coin portrait

I was reading an article the other day, and they say that there is already a portrait of Prince Charles ready to be minted on coins when he becomes a king.

Can you imagine that, one day, every country that has Queen Elizabeth II has to issue new coins with Prince Charles.

I dread the day that happens in Canada. I can just imagine the next 500 Commemorative's. Pleas NO!!! I'm embarrassed enough.
It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble.  It's what you know for sure, that just ain't so.  Mark Twain
I reckon that what they mean when folks refer to "artistic licence". Where'd that non receeding chin come from eh? Whatever qualities the man might posses, a profile suitable for the engraver's magic isn't amongst them. For the sake of numismatics I hope QEII can outlive him and Prince William can be persuaded to grow a full beard.
Non illegitimis carborundum est.  Excellent advice for all coins.
Make Numismatics Great Again!
I look forward to another short lived monarch on the throne. Mix it up a bit for numismatics in this country !

I can't remember where I've read that, but it appears that the Canadian government/Mint will do away with the ruling monarch's portrait after the death of Elizabeth ─ if she ever dies B.. Several Commonwealth members have already done so, including The Bahamas, Jamaica, Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago, etc.

I agree with Mark, though, that it would bring some numismatic variety to have a short ruling successor to the current one. Had Edward VIII ruled one extra month, we would now have 1937 as a one-year obverse type.

For more numismatic variety the UK could always go the (19th century) French route.... X-D

haha no. We’ve tried it once and we prefer our monarchy !
While keeping our favorite queen, one might find some opportunities to get variety of portraits for commonwealth coins.

Note that Canada produced a $15 pseudo-coin for Prince Charles.

While we are discussing these monarchical issues, nobody seems to have noticed that Violet Brown of Jamaica died on September 15th. Born on March 10th 1900, she was the last subject of Queen Victoria still alive.
