I've noticed that after a change request has been validated on the English side of the website, the French side remains the same.
I mean, when the request is about changing the description (not the inscriptions).
Is it up to the admin to then correct both the English and the French side, or need I the user put in 2 requests??
I, kind of, live on both sides of the aisle, even though my English is better than my French, I regularly look at my collection from the French perspective.
I often do the English to French translation for all coin I add to my collection.
Every time I check the difference between English and French on both side, and there is quite a lot of difference.
The funniest things I noticed at first was the fact that French coin had better content in English than in French and it took the referee 1 month to accept my translation for a coin like a 1 franc 1990...
It is not a mirror - basically you have two sides/sites here, French and English. Something is shared, like letterings, and pictures etc. but many things are different.
While French side is quite talkative and there are more closer ties between members, only about 10% of users are there. This of course has effect on amount of French admins and consequently on French part of the catalogue.
We try to breathe life into French side again, and one new opportunity will arise this Monday as we will start new referee recruitment for many positions.
Sounds good ! Another topic I would like to raise is the complete difference I have in my "Metal" collection between French and English. It seems that a silver coin in English can be something totally different in the French site! If you recruit more people I would be more than happy if you can take into consideration my request to be in charge of the TAAF even if it's not a listed country (hopefully) yet ;-)
Well, that is because problems in translation too. English x French coop is not going really smoothly. There should be translators trying to help this soon.
TAAF. Well, not within countries, but we will be dividing tokens and Exonumia too in the future.
Quote: "Jarcek"TAAF. Well, not within countries, but we will be dividing tokens and Exonumia too in the future.
Please don't mentione TAAF and Exonumia in the same sentence, it make me feel like a stab but that's another topic.
If you need some support I will be ready to make this website better, but I know there is a guy in the french side who have a big knowledge about "Jeton touristique- Monnaie de Paris" and who is complaining a lot about how it's organise now, so if you need some support he may help you. Personnaly I have more knowledge in phone french tokens or shopping cart tokens.
Side note: For metal thing, some changes have been agreed to help cope with the way it's working within coin file. Still few details and implementation needed but this should solve many troubles on this part.
