I just picked up 3 crowns today, but I paid alot for them and now I'm wondering if I paid to much.
Here is what I have:
1889 in F condition but cleaned
1935 in EF+ (I assume its the 50% silver issue, can anyone tell the differance?)
1999 in UNC KM#1006 (ok its a 5 pound, not a crown)
I paid $65. Am I a sucker?
I don't think you're a sucker. It just depends on how you like the coins or not. Silver crowns are hard to come by, and sometimes it's better to spend a little more cash to get the coins you need.
I've seen a late George IV halfcrown, and I think it was being sold for some $30-something in VF. Imagine buying that.

I agree with SmartOne...but you have done alright. Especially since you are in the States. Condition aside...you'd be talking about the price you paid in an Antiques shop here in the UK.
As bam (always makes me think of the Flintsones, that name) says, I reckon you did okay. We pay between 10 and 20 quid in an antiques shop for old Crowns and the £5 has of course a face value of £5 at least.
Well, that is a good rule. I set myself a rule too. I was not to buy anymore coins until I had catalogued all my coins. It took me a while but I did it.
I did exchange coins on here and out of my change. But...I never bought any coins. It was difficult but I managed.

LOL
I set myself a rule, not to buy any more coins until I work out how to dispose of the thousands of duplicate h centimes, francs, pesetas, drachmas, etc which are now threatening the foundations of my house!
Looks like I shant be buying any coins for a long while yet!
I wouldn't mind taking those crummy duplicates for you.
If you wanted, I could buy your duplicate coins, unless not worth anything, and you can send them over. Your duplicates are simply gaps in my 2-year old collection.

Matt, do you have many duplicate GDR or BRD pfennigs (1 pfennig through 50 pfennigs) that you might be willing to part with? I'm trying to fill in some large gaps.
All my duplicates are listed as swaps. I know, it takes ages to sift through the list, but if there are any you want, let me know through a PM, and we can work something out so that I don't end up out of pocket paying expensive postage.
My 2007 Krause has the error listed as well. Maybe someone with a newer guide could tell us if it is still there, but I haven't seen any reliable accounts on the web for it.
Actually the 1935 Crown in UNC is worth £30-£40 on it's own.
The error in the edge inscription is a large space after Anno (British 2011 & 2012 publications)
The 1889 Crown in Fine is worth around £20 here in the UK
The 1999 not so great isn't worth more than face value, however I think you did ok with a total £55-65 worth for $65 depending on the exchange rate lol
