I would like to know when a change/update has been made to one of the coins in my collection. I could make a mental picture of all the pages and check them regularly... oh wait, no, actually I cannot.
Is there a way that I can get a message when an item is changed? I tried RSSowl, but maybe I did something wrong.
The reason why I would want to be notified is because I want to make sure that I have the right variety, for instance. This goes especially for the coins in my swaplist. Sometimes a new variety is added, of which I didn't know. The wrong variety could be in my swaplist which makes it a bit awkward in the swapping process (or even when the swapper get the coin at home).
There isn't really something like this at the moment, and I really wish there was.
You are totally right, and it happened with me. Got the coins when there was no varieties. Once I had a swap, I checked and varieties were added, and it turned out I had 1 of each.
Until the idea gets implemented - if it will (being realistic, won't be any time soon), just check the coin sheet before a swap. make sure no extra year lines were added for new varieties.
For major changes, some referees tend to notify in the forum about new varieties being added.
I just asked Jarcek if it was possible to make the "Modification History" page, that only referees and admins can see right now, be made public. That would be a sort of fix.

it doesn't include year lines, which is another issue by itself
Yeah, would be a really useful feature. I'm not sure I'd be happy with "immediate" emails on every single change but something like a weekly digest (only for coins in my collection) would be great. My problem is not that much with varieties but catalog numbers for the coins issued in the past few years. I'd really like to know when one becomes available so I can update what I write on the holders.
