An old family friend gave me this beauty today, she comes from former Austro-Hungarian nobility and had it in her family for a long time. Needless to say I'm very happy, it's the first gold coin in my collection. :)

I collect and deal in ancient Roman coin. In case you're looking for affordable ancient coins or need any help with the coins you already have send me a message.
Wow, congratulation!!
Excellent gift,congratulation.
'Needless to say I'm very happy', must be the understatement of the year so far. I would be ecstatic.
What an absolute beautiful coin, and your first gold one. How are you going to upstage this one, I do not know.
If you ever need anyone to babysit the coin for you, please call me first. Only joking, I think.
Take great care of it.
I'm just a collector of coins, not a slave to it, unless I am in a coin shop.
For all you banknote collectors. Link to my swap list.

Wow!
Taking a break from swapping for a while, but still interested in pre 1799 Spanish coins, I will make time for that!

Looking for pre 1783 coins
Wow. Just WOW! Congratulations!

What a beautiful gift!
Very nice coin! The year 1892 was the same year that the Corona (Krone or Korona) replaced the Florin at 2 Coronae for 1 Florin. This gold coin was minted to the standards of the Latin Monetary Union (LMU), which unified the currencies of France, Belgium, Switzerland, Spain, Italy and many more countries at par. The Florin was worth 2.5 Francs, hence 8 Florins was 20 Francs. This would make this gold coin easily exchangable with other 20 Francs/Peseta/Lire coins of the LMU.

I absolutely love how you can pull out a paragraph of information from nowhere like a walking Wikipedia! Reminds me of when we were writing introductory paragraphs and editing each other's work (8

gorgeous gift, lucky u :)
i need new friends..... :P
Thank you all! :)

Do you think I should get this graded? According to the person that gave it to me it's around 100 years old but since it's dated 1892. it's a restrike so it was never in circulation although it does have a few scratches, I'm not sure if grading would give it any extra value?
