That was a fantastic match. NZ played well but for the Lions to score two tries to nil was unexpectedly brilliant.

Rugby isn't really my thing but I would say the All Blacks are at a disadvantage. They are a national team against 5 technically or at least a pool there of.
Add to that we had only 14 men for 60 of the 80 minutes thanks to the moron Sony Bill. I don't know why the coaches keep selecting him, the penalties he gives away and the loose passes he gives up more than outweighs any breaks he makes.
Really it should be the lions Vs The ANZAT (Australia New Zealand And Territories) that would be some team !

Yes that would be an excellent match, something i hope will happen in the future.
This might sound arrogant, but a combined ANZAC team would probably still be the same team. I don't think there's any Australian or Pacific Island player I would pick over an All Black. Except perhaps Michael Pocock for Sam Cane. The only one I would like dropped from our team is Sonny Bill, but then I'd rather have Malakai Fekitoa in the team over someone else from Australasia/Pacific

You see that's the thing, and it wouldn't help the team anyway as the AB's are a team that have gelled together over the years whereas the Lions only play rugby for just over a month together.

I've always admired New Zealand's sporting prowess. I think it's quite remarkable that a country with a population the size of Scotland can be legitimate competitors at the highest levels across so many sports. They are not there just to make up the numbers, they're there to win.

I also like the way they typically play the game - hard but fair. Kinda like the pre-Chappel Australian cricket team. Nobody likes to see their national teams lose but it takes a bit of the sting away to know that you lost to a better team on the day instead of crooked umpires.

A country that can produce Sir Richard Hadlee, Jonah Lomu and the Lord of the Rings trilogy has to be doing something right. I think I could quite happily live out the rest of my days in your little island paradise.
Non illegitimis carborundum est.  Excellent advice for all coins.

New Zealand is firmly in my top 3 of my emigration consideration list. Alongside Canada and Australia.

why is it that the lions have no anthem to sing prematch--surely God save the queen or even full version of "swing low sweet chariot"

I don't think the Irish would tolerate any of these! :°
Trying to get a coin from each UN country with circulating coins. 20 to go!
God save the queen don't have a laugh. I always think it should be rule Britannia for sports (obviously not for the lions) you can't have a national anthem for an amalgamation of countries when one has their own seperate one.
There was anthem for 2005 tour and we all know how that series turned out!

11.7 Offside after a knock-on
When a player knocks-on and an offside team-mate next plays the ball, the offside player is liable to sanction if playing the ball prevented an opponent from gaining an advantage.
Sanction: Penalty kick

just football. Maybe boxing too can't think of any Kiwis on the world stage there. Pretty good for such a small country. But then again, it's a god given talent so there's no reason any country couldnt excel at something. Just depends on the weather society encourages the sports. In england academics are pushed a lot more. I find the US way of doing it the best. Get a sports scholarship and if you're not good enough to become a professional then you have qualifications to do other things.

You mean you haven't heard of Joseph Parker who holds one of the three world heavyweight boxing titles?

Soccer is definitely a weak sport for NZ though, but there are a couple of kiwis in the English Premier League. Winston Reid plays for West Ham and Chris Wood played for Leicester until a year or so ago.

i remember when Chris Wood was the next big thing. Shame it never panned out. I know your countrymen are about. I don't know the Parker no. I'm sure he and Joshua will face off soon enough so Joshua can unify that one too.

ooopppps theres a challenge haha8~ I see the Kiwis have wrapped up most of the medals at rowing/skulling champs in Europe in last couple of days-- but you are right about the soccer- work in progress I think-!!!!!! we need to import some more euros/poms to lift skill levels
If you want any Europeans go for french, Spanish, Italian, German or even Icelandic if you want to improve your game with football
What, no Portuguese? ;)

I forgot to mention them ! Then again theirs and Spain's decline in world football has been quite spectacular. Portugal seemed to fluke their way to winning the Euros !
