ID question France 5 Francs 1830

3 posts
When trying to ID an 1830 French 5 Franc piece, I see there are two that are similar.
The common version has edge lettering.
Edge lettering is not mentioned for the scarce version.
Is this a reliable method for differentiation?
Thanks for looking.

Thank you Frenchlover, that pleases me to know.
I was thinking the difference was a high relief portrait or something.
Friday I made a trip to the local coin shop for the first time in almost a year, and he had some crown size coins in a box -on sale, your choice.
This was one of the 9 coins I picked out.
