Mint Letter Meaning

What does the (an) signify following the year on a coin page. Example: 1992 (an).
Probably French for 'year'
The (an) is in the spot where the mint mark would be.
Do you have a link of such a page to share with us?

I would say as jokinen, "an" being a french word for "year". I guess referees for Greece may be able to confirm that (or not).

Anthemion flower, the symbol of the Greek mint, at least that's what I have always thought what it meant.

You are right about the Anthemion flower:

Although they better wrote it like this: (an) - Anthemion - Greek National Mint, Athens to make it consistent with their year lines like 1992 (an)
