I gave up on my "round the world Numista style" threads because people kept adding and splitting countries (If you don't know what they are, we tried to get people to post pictures of a coin from every country in the Numista catalogue in order.)
It's been a while since we've had one of these game threads, so I thought I'd start off a new one. Let's try to get a coin listed from a country starting with each letter of the alphabet. I'll start with a country that starts with "A" The next person posts a coin from a country beginning with "B" and so on until we get to "Z"
The only rule is you can't post numerous times in a row. Let someone else have a go in between posting coins.

Quote: "COINMAN1"Neil,
Sorry no coin, but what about starting at a low face value and going up?
Great minds think alike. I was pondering this one but I think I've got something better....we'll let this one get back to A, unless you want to go another round. There's still plenty of countries and plenty of coins.

I propose additional rule- Countries can not repeat also.
Then we'd get hopelessly stuck on X.
(Maybe Q too, I'm not sure.)
Here is a nearly complete list of countries starting with X:
- Xin Dynasty (9-23 AD in China - perhaps the easiest X to get)
- Xinjiang (large variety of mostly rare types, some actually say Sinkiang)
- Xi Xia (medieval Chinese breakaway state, also known as Hsi Hsia or Western Xia)
- Xanthos (obscure Greek, formerly Lycian, city state)
- Xalostotitlan (Mexican city, one 19th century local issue)
All except Xin and Xinjiang are very rare to extremely rare. IIRC there are 1-2 other possibilities, of similar rarity.
I've seen some people trying for the alphabet set using individual Chinese emperors for X (such as Xianfeng).
Xanten in Germany is sometimes suggested, but it only made notgeld banknotes (not coins).

Yes, that was an annoying question and definitely not one I was going to ask myself.
Somebody mentioned that we'd run out of X countries pretty quickly...I wonder if we kept this up, eliminating letters as we ran out of countries, which letter would be the last one standing.

This I simply assumed. It would make it more fun - and more difficult! I also reckon you must own the coin and provide your own pictures. Not just copying a picture from another site. That's cheating.
Great idea! All I could think of was this cute little 5 Stotinki from 1888 (KM# 9), struck under the rule of Ferdinand I. I got it in a swap with a Bulgarian Numista member.
