Coin Diameter Card (Handy Collecting Tool)

Hi All,
I always find myself passing a garage sale or something like that where coins are on sale. Like most people I dont walk around all day with my calipers, scale etc... I always wanted to make a Trading card size gauge to keep in my wallet for these occasions. A few days ago I decided to go ahead and design it. Yesterday I sent it to the printer to get printed. I ordered 500 of them (since the price between 250 and 500 was only about $18 difference). I ordered so many cause I figured others may like to have on them as well. I am planning to possibly send them out with my swaps that I do.

Basically its a 2 sided baseball card size hardstock card with ring gauges on both sides. 1 side has diameters that are even numbers from 8-44mm and the other side is odd numbers from 7-43mm. Each size has a scale (one side mm and one side in's) that can be used to measure thickness, odd shaped coins etc... It also has on one side all common US coin sizes. (see mockup images below)

Its a great little tool to have in your wallet and on your desk to quickly measure coin diameters and thickness. I dont think this will ever take the place of a true caliper but I think its very handy.

Most of my family members are into collecting coins and I have many friends that collect as well and thought this may be a neat little gift. You can also laminate it to make it durable if you have a thermal lamination device (i know i have one).

I figured I can share this with others who may be interested in having one as well. I would be happy to send anyone who wants one in the USA. Just cover my costs (cost of card printing, postage, envelope etc...)

PM if interested.... They should be available for pickup from printer in about 10 days.....

HAPPY COLLECTING & ALL THE BEST

Thanks. Glad you like it. Wasnt sure if I should have put more on card or if too many details would just crowd it. Happy with your feedback. If you want I have a few Global Forever Postage Stamp that costs about $1.15 ea. I can send you a few if you want just cover my costs.

I recommend alternating the diameter labels so they don't crowd into a line.

For example:
9 7 5 3 1 center 2 4 6 8

Thats what I did. each circle is 2mm less than the next. so to accomplish that I did 2 sides. One with even and one with odd numbers.

Got my coin cards today. They are very nice. They are on card-stock so they should last a long time. He shipped them very fast.
I received a couple of these cards from Aaron with a swap. I keep 1 in each of my vehicles.Very professionally done, and a little more peace of mind when buying coins away from home. Pretty sweet...
This is a good idea, I admire you for taking the leap and getting these made. I would recommend letting overseas members buy them too, they won't cost much to send and you can be upfront about them paying the shipping costs.
Taking a break from swapping for a while, but still interested in pre 1799 Spanish coins, I will make time for that!

Looking for pre 1783 coins

Thanks. I guess my hesitation was that I am not familiar with overseas post. I have sent stuff to Canada but that's about it. If anyone out there from other countries want it I guess I can ship to them if they guide me and understand the costs of postage.

I am sending these out for costs of postage plus a little bit (I think $1.30 for one card is fair considering postage stamp and envelope costs me about $0.70 and will do $0.50 for each additional card. I can do multiples for less if they take a lot of them. One member took 20 of them so I did it for $0.40 ea) to help me cover my expense and future similar type ideas. Not looking to really make a killing. I have about 250 left. I would like to keep about 50-60 of them to give to swap partners as a bonus. PM me if interested.

Thanks,
Aaron
