Has anyone traded with someone from Croatia? I may have a problem. My first time trading so of course I had to go first. He received mine within a week. I now have been waiting for my coins for over two weeks. I keep sending him messages and I keep getting "Please be patient a few days", how long does it take? I'm beginning to think that I got took. Have anyone else had problems with swaps coming from Croatia? Guess I won't do that again. Guess no more swaps for me, lessen learned.
David
Forgot to mention I am from Germany. Is there a problem?
Does you swap partner have several swaps all with a 10/10 rating? If so, I would be inclined to believe s/he really did send out the coins.
maybe 2 weeks does sound a bit long for a swap within Europe. However you should remain patient. Do you have a tracking number for his letter? If you do not receive the coins in the next 2 weeks, both of you can perhaps start talking about next steps. If was me in that persons place; I would be obliged to send the coins again. I would also take pictures of the coins and the envelope ready to go as well as perhaps send by registered mail this time too (if the last time was by ordinary mail)

Yes he is a 10/10 that is the first thing I looked at before swapping. Yes he took a picture of the envenlope that he said he sent, but of course that doesn't mean he sent it. Guess there is nothing I can do except wait and see. Thanks
Hi!
To me coins from Croatia to Poland (registered mail) went 6 days.
Most coins come in a week, but it happened that coins came after about 2 weeks.
I guess the coins were sent by unregistered mail.
If so it will be difficult to guess what it happen to them, whether someone has deceived you and did not send coins or letter lost (also happens so)
I'm from Croatia and in my experience registered mail within Europe usually takes about a week to deliver... except to France, for some reason my swaps (and ebay orders) with France usually take 2-3 weeks however the post can be tricky at times, for instance one of my packages took over 40 days to arrive to the US while another arrived in 9.
If you sent by registered mail you can check where it was last recorded, if not then all you can do is wait just keep in mind that regular mail takes about a week longer to deliver then registered, at least that's my experience.
Two weeks really isn't a long time, if it was a member with a good reputation there's no need to be alarmed, I'm sure the coins will arrive.
I collect and deal in ancient Roman coin. In case you're looking for affordable ancient coins or need any help with the coins you already have send me a message.
OK, been about five weeks and still no coins. I don't know if was his fault and didn't package very well and they could tell what was inside, didn't send them or got stolen. but it tough me a lessen, "No more swaps" I'll keep this web site to keep track of my coins, but here after, that's it, no more. To bad, good way to get hard to get coins and get rid of my doubles. OR lose them.

i suppose you could not come to an agreement with the other person on what to do next. I've had a terrific experience of swapping with people - both inside and outside of numista. However, it's not necessarily for everyone and you can still buy coins at local fairs or through Ebay and other online sources.
As you pointed out, numista can still be useful in other ways. All the best in your coin collecting journey

I get most of my coins from eBay anyway, just thought I'd take a chance. Didn't work out. But nice web site though. Very useful and good information.
I wouldn't let one bad trade stop you from trying again. Early in my days here I had a USA/Romanian trade in which neither of us seemed to have gotten what was sent. I was shy about sending coins to Europe after that for a long time and now I have had success with a trade to Greece. Also waiting on a trade to Bulgaria. I have more trust in the people I'm trading with than the postal administrations. If I were you I would rethink things and give it another try. Try trading with someone within Germany first.

Thanks, I am an American living in Germany. Most of my extra coin are European so not much chance in finding someone within Germany that wants them. Guess I need to start getting American coins. But we'll see, just took a chance and I lost. Get burnt once you don't normally stick your hand in the fire a second time.
My first swap here was a bad experience too, I sent the coins but after I wrote my partner the tracking number, he didn't answer my messages anymore (and of course I didn't get any coins from him, he was a cheater). I thought in the same way as you, I didn't want more swaps. But after that I got some swap requests so I gave this site a second chance.
Now I have 78 ratings, that means 78 succesful swaps and around ~70 trustworthy swap partners (edit: that's because I had more than one swap with the same persons). So I recommend you to not give up after the first bad experience, it's a good site with a lots of friendly collectors.

I'm just now giving it another try. Since I've only one rating,(at least he gave me good rating even if I never did get his coins) I have to go first just like the last time. We'll see, hope for the best.
Thank you everyone with your help and suggestions. Did a second swap went prefect. Today I got my first swap only took about five weeks to get here. But it all worked out. Now just started my third swap.
