cheap alternatives to the Panama Pill

The Panama pill is probably the smallest silver coin on record-I believe it is only 10 mm in width. But I picked up a Guatemalan coin, an 1899 1/4 real, that comes in at 12mm-83.5 % silver. The coin looks very small. It only weights in at 0.77 grams, whereas the Panama pill weighs in, I believe, at 1.25 grams.

Aside the the P. pill, what is the smallest silver coin you have?

Neil, what is the smallest coin of any type of metal. My smallest is still that 12 mm coin.

Someone posted one on here a few weeks ago that was only 5 or 6 mm, I'll see if I can track the post down

Edit: I couldn't find the thread I was thinking about but here's one that Apuking posted talking about a 4.5mm gold coin

That is small all right. I guess it would pay to have gold for a coin that small.

The smallest coins I've ever encountered are the 1/96 staters of ancient Greece or Anatolia. They are as small as 3mm and weigh about .15-.2 grams. Not the smallest coins by weight, but because they are sphere-like they are the smallest by diameter.

I have seen "1/10 gold fanams" for sale online, but never by a reputable dealer and never graded by a reputable grader so I am very inclined to say that these are modern fabrications (also seeing how ebay sellers never seem to run out of them). Edit: They are also referred to as gold cash, bele, and a few other names.

The coin in the picture above looks like a 1/24 or 1/48 stater, It's hard to tell without knowing the size of the coin or their hands

Edit: The smallest authentic coins by weight are the Nepalese dams in silver and gold, they weigh about .04g each.

Edit: While looking online I found refrences to a Nepalese coin called the "jawa" reputedly weighing only .01g, if it exists it would be the smallest coin by weight.
