Canada Pennies Wanted! 1965 V1 in PL, and 1983 Far and Near Beads in PL, SP, and PR.

1 post
Hi, I am new to the forum. I am putting together a Canada Small Cent collection. I am collecting business strikes from bank/Mint rolls, Proof-Like from PL sets, Specimen Strikes from deluxe Specimen sets, and Proof.

Here are some of the penny varieties I am currently trying to find.

1965 (Variety 1; Pointed 5) in Proof-Like preferably still sealed in cellophane wrap cut from a PL RCM set.

1983 Far and Near Beads in PL, SP, and Proof. I was able to get the Business Strikes in Gem BU Red off of eBay in a two variety set, but the PL, SP, and PR versions are not being sold in two coin variety sets. I have contacted the dealers who sell the BU sets, but they do not have them in any other version. I contacted coin dealers selling them in PL, SP, and PR, but they do not sell them in variety sets, and either said they could not tell the difference between the two varieties or could not help me. I am using a checklist to collect Canada Small Cents, and it shows on my list that these two varieties exist in all four strike types. Also, the online price guide shows for 1983 Far and Near Beads that they exist in PL and SP, and are retail priced at $1 and $2 in PL-64 and SP-64. I have a 1983 in Proof that I purchased for 50 cents, and I think it is Near Beads, but I would prefer to get a set just in case I am wrong. The proof version does not match either the near or the far bead business strike varieties. It appears to be between these two version, but that might just be because it has a better strike.

Let me know if anyone can help and what value you place on these, so we can figure out a trade or I can buy them from you.

Thank.
