Help with Spain 1887 20 Pesetas (19)(61) MPM

5 posts
Hello,

I have a 20 Pesetas coin from Spain dated 1887, with 19 and 61 in the stars, and MP.M. on the reverse.

The Numista catalog mentions a 1887 MPM but indicates that it was minted in 1887, whereas I know mine was minted in 1961 because of the stars. The 1961 version on Numista has PGV instead of MPM.

I can't find the coin in Krause or NGC, and my exact coin isn't mentioned on Numista. I did find one coin with the same numbers/letters here:

Since it seems to be an NGC it give me some hope mine isn't fake, but I thought someone here might know more about these coins. Thanks in advance.

Chris
I think this is the Numista page:
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces17587.html

It's in my Krause 1801-1900 hardcopy, but the listing is the same as the Numista page with the PGV mintmark for the 1961 restrike.

I'm not sure that's any help!
Funny, my hard copy doesn't show the 1887 1961 MPM, can you send a photo?
That's what I'm saying, it has PGV for the 1961 version, just like the Numista page.
Fixed in Numista catalog. This was an inherited error from Krause.

chrismck, you have a coin with a sad story.
